jana kirschner - a child of the bear and blueberry soaked forests of the geographical centre of europe, the land locked land now known as slovakia, mushrooms, berries, and nuts were her toys, the folk songs of slovaks, roma, and the magyar, her education….. winning spandex clad dance comps at 8 years old down the local dom kulture - culture house - disturbingly garish singing competitions by 12, and early forays into songwriting via misguided western wannabe production…. the surest route to 90s era slovakian stardom. jana has changed course so abruptly so frequently in her now eight album career no one dare guess her next move, yet with muzika she has landed, and announced, here is music, a celebration, no rules, pompous, bombastic, day-glo nonsense, it could only come from central europe.

after an incredible summer that saw the diynamic label release more big hits from boss solomun and hot talents adriatique, as well as hold down their fantastic outdoor parties in ibiza, the hamburg house stable is unleashing a brand new series of four various artists eps called four to the floor - four eps with four tracks each, focussing on the dancefloor. the vinyl ep includes a download code.

after the success of their first release charmin are back with another high quality wax. this offering showcases the talents of florist and close friend of the imprint tilman, all pressed up on heavyweight vinyl with a lovingly designed cover. the ep kicks off with “proof nothing” which is a statement of intent. deep, churning piano chords overlaid with delayed vocal samples all underpinned with a solid beat and deep bass. next up “raw” does exactly what it says on the tin. this is a stripped down thumper with crunchy claps and an infectious groove. “once again” has a looser, more percussive feel to it with machine gun snares rattling off overt the top of a killer chord line. bringing things to a close is “mood swings” which builds brooding atmospheres and eerie vocal snippets. all in all this ep carries on the good work of this exciting new label. charmin continues its journey to bring you uncompromising, underground house music of the highest order.

mujuice comes back to pro-tez records after almost 10 years since his first output for the label. it is a 180 grams heavyweight, vinyl only release limited to 300 copies with stunning full color artwork by roman litvinov himself. two original pieces from mujuice are acid vapored tender compositions with breathing luscious voice samples, which are unique in mujuices own way. on the flip youll find two stripped down remixes from german house veteran lawrence and our own anton kubikov.

low-down and dirty jazz goes right back to the early 1900s in storyville, after the bands had played their hot tunes in the evening for dancing couples, the musicians would head off to the after-hours joints and play a less energetic but more bluesy kind of music, enabling them and their late-night audiences to get through to the early hours of the morning without suffering total exhaustion. and nobody in new orleans laid into the blues so low down and dirty as buddy bolden, whose funky butt became a staple in the repertoire of the citys early jazz bands.

*bapteme de l air* keeps the pressure up throughout as it steadily rolls out its sharpened kick and thick, propulsive snare before reaching its rattling, mechanical apogee. *ready pour le tour* unfurls behind off-kilter clicks, tightly swung hats and sax stabs while astute dynamics build a rich and cavernous atmosphere. the disco tinged *plein les mirettes* sets a rousing warm-up tone from the off with a dense kick and clap pinning down flecks of crowd chatter and shimmering metallic signals before dana ruhs spectral revision of ready pour le tour casts a murky glow over the original, blooming until its close with thickening strings and addictive knocks and claps.

sound exists to be stolen, cut up, re-arranged, and turned on its head. good sound, once produced, should be preserved for proper arrangement. docile #21 is a collection of elements that have been captured from unique sources and fused into fluid creations. environment and progress of time are catalysts for a creation to form a process. dociles nameless and faceless process works to liberate a new sound and describe its’ own natural pattern. docile connects to the random to pull out patterns, those patterns can be honed down to construct a logical but abstract funk. mistakes are made and processed and reworked into a melody. nonsensical, indiscriminant, drunkin funk turns to soulful harmony with presence and conviction. immature tantrums and rambunchous crunching mask a bi-polar need for smooth rides with snacks and naps.

neana makes his night slugs debut with two huge bootlegs. both sides showcase the young producers unique style, melding grime, ballroom beats and the ns club constructions manifesto into a new club sound of all his own.

all-day and all-night cultural entertainment center and athenian place-to-be, six d.o.g.s, has launched its brand new label, six d.o.g.s records. its first release under the gilda series, which will be focusing on contemporary, club-oriented electronic music, is lemos *kay&#305,,,,kç&#305,,,,*. lemos, the wonder-boy of greek underground dance scene, delivers the goods with a cover of *kaykci*, a greek (with turkish-like aroma) folk song, originally written in 1948. the song is a staple of traditional greek music, having been covered by numerous artists through the years. lemos nine minute long take features the beautiful vocals of folk-jazz singer, natasha mindrinou. in typical lemos style, the track is a dubby techno - house trip to the stars, retaining the core of the original song, basic melodies and lyrics. this leads-up to a deep, hypnotic but epic, huge cut that will surely move after hours dancefloors all-over. a remix by kreon, the greek maitre of contemporary minimal techno. he takes the original parts of kay&#305,,,,kç&#305,,,, under a low key bass carpet that extends to 12 minutes. stripped down, with emphasis on crystal clear rhythmics and in full swing, the track takes a whole new meaning. smartly placed vocals that fit in the after-hours aura and a hands-up moment towards the end, kreon brings the heat akin to the sound of ricardo villalobos and rpr.

music is strongly linked to memory, sometimes just a simple note will trigger a deep feeling of nostalgia or emotion. the new homesick series was created by music enthusiasts living half a world away from their birthplaces. their concept is to play on memory, to re-edit and rework songs from the past into something which is timeless, tracks which feel fresh but remain true to the original.

emerging nyc label lost soul enterprises present hidden city, their third 12 inch release and first single-artist ep. these four tracks by brooklyn native j slusher, made in collaboration with his fellow artists in the boroughs thriving experimental techno scene, are dark, menacing excursions into after hours territory. his previous work as a noise artist under various monikers (opponents, privilege, unstable systems) informs a uniquely uncompromising take on club music. slusher takes a stripped-down, industrial approach to percussion and populates it with otherworldly vocal snippets and growling synths. the result is hypnotic, evoking the severe moods and disused spaces so vital to the secret nightlife of the city.

zeitgeber and l.b dub corp split the second in stroboscopic artefacts series of fifth anniversary records. zeitgeber is the collaborative project of sa label boss lucy and dutch techno royalty speedy j. their joint alias birthed an exceptional long-player last year and has since been presented as a b2b act at festivals and clubs around the world. totemism is their first officially released output since that album, and is every bit as compelling.

jel ford kicks off his return ep with two tracks of clean big room techno. the title track backyard is a moody affair with a low drone throughout that is complimented with layered synth stabs. using reverb to create atmosphere within the track it subtly breaks down before a vocal hook transcends the track to deliver a killer blow. meeting of minds is dubbier and uses a tripped out synth to add rhythm whilst working alongside a synth pattern to keep the track chugging along. the slow evolving pads add texture and keep the track nicely filled out whilst this timeless classic keeps on giving.
